This Hunger Games book redesign focus was on the themes and icons of the book. Many people and young kids think that The Hunger Games is about people playing games for food. The jacket sells the idea that this book is about war, death, and ultimately survival. All of the selected icons have something to do with the story line or are used during the story. This jacket also plays up the mockingjay icon, which has become a well-known symbol for The Hunger Games trilogy.

The icons on the cover are continued throughout the book. The full title spread has almost the entire collection of chosen icons. These icons are all in white to give the impression of a page of stickers with all of the stickers removed. Throughout the book the icons are shown in color. Every chapter opener has a collection of icons to express the themes and major events of the chapters.
